Written by Richard Curtis, ‘Yesterday’ is about Ed Sheeran

Richard Curtis’s new movie revolves around a struggling singer-songwriter in a tiny English seaside town, who after a freak accident during a global blackout, and when he wakes up, he faces a world where the famous band ‘The Beatles’ never existed, and he is the only person who seems to remember them and their songs. The movie will see Himesh Patel in the lead alongside, Lily James, Kate McKinnon, and Ed Shreeran as their ensemble cast. According to reports, writer Richard Curtis mentioned that Patel’s character is inspired from the singer Ed Sheeran himself. Lily James’ character is a childhood friend of Patel’s character, and eventually his love interest.

Richard Curtis has previously contributed in rom-com’s like ‘Bean’, ‘Love Actually’, ‘Notting Hill’, is the writer of film. Himesh Patel is known for his role as Tamwar Masood in the BBC soap opera ‘East Enders’ which he played from 2007 to 2016. On the other hand, Lily James has worked in films like, ‘Cindrella’, ‘Baby Driver’, and ‘Darkest Hour’. Ed Sheeran is however, mostly known for his music and songs, and little roles in movies and TV series. The three albums released by him contained top-charter songs like, ‘The A Team’, ‘Give Me Love’, ‘Photograph’, ‘Don’t’, ‘Thinking out Loud’, and his latest album had songs like ‘Shape of You’, ‘Castle On The Hill’, ‘Galway Girl’, which praised by all.

The movie is directed by Danny Boyle, and will have its world premiere on 4th May, at Tribeca Film Festival and will release by Universal Pictures on 28th June.
