So Close, Yet So Far!

The most anticipated movie of the year and the highest grosser as well, Avengers: Endgame since it’s theatrical release has been on a roll, steadily riding towards the highest grossing movie of all time. Endgame started its run on 26th April 2019, with a massive success worldwide, as the 10 years of Marvel Cinematic Universe came to an end after 22 movies. It was presumed that the film would be a blockbuster, and it went on to breaking several records, almost closing on to James Cameron’s cinematic masterpiece ‘Avatar’.

Released a decade ago, ‘Avatar’ went on in a to create a history of its own with a record of $2.788 billion worldwide. The concept of ‘Avatar’ turned out to be an interesting one to the audience as they went on to applauding the story, cinematography and most importantly, they supported the movie by going to watch in the theatres resulting in the huge success and no.1 box office collection till date.

Avengers: Endgame, the concluding movie of Marvel Cinematic Universe, went on the run of becoming the no.1 box office collection of all time in an unbelievable pace since it’s release, but with the race coming to an end, Endgame remains $46 million short of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’. Added with that, it fell way short of ‘Star Wars: The Force AwakensUS record of $937 million, while Russo Brother’s Endgame have so far collected $890.49 million in the whole of United States. With the upper hand at the box office collection, ‘Avatar 2’ is scheduled to release in December, 2021. Re-releases of both films may change the scenario of box office collection only if Disney wishes to do so.
