The commercial success of 2017 film ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ paved way for its sequel and the sequel is titled as ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’. The original movie dealt with the problem of erectile dysfunction faced by many men who are unable to share their story due to pressure from relatives or close friends and our society. Mudit Sharma played by Ayushmann Khurrana is a shy person with the problem erectile dysfunction, falls for Sugandha Sharma played by Bhumi Pednekar, and proposes her for, but couldn’t quite come to terms with Sugandha with his problems, posing a confusion to their marriage already in progress. The film focused on each aspect of the problem and the societal judgments a man has to go through if word gets out. However, the maker has decided the new plot of the sequel to be based on homosexuality, with Ayushmann Khurrana taking up the lead with the role of a gay lover. The producer of the film Anand L. Rai posted a teaser for the film that depicts the love stories in Bollywood so far, concentrating on the heterosexual relationships, and later showing the stories of homosexuals that have been unheard due to law and backlash from masses with the hilarious caption ‘100% Prakritik Pyaar!! #ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan#Valentines Day 2020’. Written by Hitesh Kewala, ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ is scheduled to release on Valentine’s Day 2020, with Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Love Aaj Kal’ sequel, and ‘Malang’.
