Ranveer Singh nails Kapil Dev ‘Natraj Shot’

Ranveer Singh never fails to surprise us when it comes to portraying a particular character on screen and his recent picture sets a perfect example for that. The actor shared a picture of himself as the former cricket legend, Kapil Dev, posing his iconic ‘Natraj shot’. It was one of the most devastating shot played by the former Indian Cricket team captain, against fast bowlers.

The 1983 Cricket World Cup is really significant in the history of Indian cricket. On June 25 1983, India beat West Indies by 43 runs to lift the World Cup, under the captainship of Kapil Dev, who played a crucial role in the tournament.

Now 36 years after the win, India’s journey in the 1983 world cup is being recreated on the silver screen with the Bollywood’s Ranveer Singh donning the role of Kapil Dev.

As an actor, Ranveer surely knows the perfect way to add little details to the character he portrays on screen. From the look to the accent to actually sweating it out on the cricket field, he seems to have got into the skin of character of Kapil Dev. Sporting the cricketing gear with a white cricket jersey, the actor shared his picture on Instagram to give his audience a glimpse of himself in action.

The picture got a thumbs up both from the fans and Ranveer’s contemporaries in the industry. Kapil Dev, himself retweeted the picture saying, “Hats Off Ranveer!”

Directed by Kabir Khan, ’83 also stars Deepika Padukone as Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev. Others of the Indian team members will be played by Saquib Saleem, Adinath Kothari, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, Jatin Sarna. The film is scheduled to be released in April 2020.
