Nawazuddin roped in for a second Netflix stint

After tasting a big serving of success with the drama series, Sacred Games, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has re-established his spot with Netflix for a second outing. The iconic actor has been roped in to play the lead role in Netflix’s upcoming film, Serious Men. The movie is an adaptation of the original book written by Manu Jospeh published in 2010.

The actor announced the official statement with a tweet, thanking Netflix for the opportunity. The film will be directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Bombay Fables and Cineraas Entertainment. “I am very excited to work with a creative mind like Sudhir Mishra,” the actor said. The 45-year old will be playing Ayyan Mani, a dalit slum-dweller who works for a Brahmin astronomer in a science institute. He battles his everyday situation to survive along with his 10 year old son, who he believes to be a genius. Life soon spirals out of control for Mani as he realises the only victim of the dangerous play is his son. The entire plot is a satirical take on the caste system, in contemporary India. If words are to be believed, Sanya Malhotra is also expected to join the cast. However, no official details have been revealed yet.

The actor also expressed his excitement with regards to Sacred Games season 2, which will be released in July. “It will be exciting to see the audience’s reaction. I hope they love Ayyan Mani as they love Ganesh Gaitonde,” he said. The first season was a tremendous hit, weaving in all the political and societal games of the country in the plot. The actor also announced his project Bole Chudiyan, with Mouni Roy. The romantic film will be directed by the younger Siddiqui, Shamas Siddiqui and will be produced by Woodpecker Movies.
