Naezy Makes His Comeback with ‘Aafat Wapas’

The Mumbai based underground rapper Naved Shaikh, mostly goes by his stage name Naezy, returned to rapping after almost a year with his new single ‘Aafat Wapas’. The song is a sequel to his debut song ‘Aafat’ released on 2014. The single released on 24th March, Sunday.

Naezy who has been part of a hip-hop community that introduced India to old school rapping, storytelling and talking about social and political issues through lyrics. This was the part of hip-hop that majority of India wasn’t aware about, with rappers focusing on glamour, alcohol and all as their lyrics. Neazy, who has previously admitted his style to be inspired from western old school rappers like Rakim, Nas, Eminem and many others, likes to tell stories of the Mumbai streets. The video of ‘Aafat Wapas’ is a freestyle rap shot in the streets of Mumbai, for all his fans, friends and fellow rapperes, who were eagerly waiting for his music. His debut song ‘Aafat’ was a DIY music video shot on an iPad in 2014, was a truthful depiction of a gully rap scene.

He gained popularity in his next song, collaborating with Divine, the 2015 hit ‘Mere Gully Mein’. The song was remade in the movie ‘Gully Boy’ in 2019, making it even more famous, and shedding a light on the Indian underground rap scenes. ‘Aafat Wapas’ was performed by Naezy in the Mumbai Indian’s opening match in IPL 2019. This single was originally released on Gully Beat app and the release has been supported by Big Bang Records and Balaji Telefilms Ltd. It was also released in Naezy’s youtube channel ‘Naezy TV’ on 25th March.
