Lashana Lynch cast as 007 for the next Bond movie

James Bond fans wanting 007 to be either black or female are in for a double treat as reports have confirmed that 31-year old British actress Lashana Lynch will be taking over as 007 in the James Bond franchise’s 25th movie that is currently being filmed. Rumours have been going around that James Bond might be recast as a black actor after Daniel Craig steps down and Lashana’s casting comes as a welcome surprise. Critics had long speculated that Idris Elba might take over the role of the legendary M16 agent but insiders have proved them wrong.

There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says ‘Come in 007’ and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman,” The Mail reported. However, as known beforehand, Lynch won’t be filling in the role for Bond but instead a new character who assumes his 007 code number after he leaves the U.K.’s secret intelligence agency. The Insider sources also further revealed that Bond ‘tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him’ in one of the initial sequences of the movie. According to sources the term ‘Bond Girl’ is now strictly forbidden and replaced by ‘Bond Women’.

The yet-untitled Bond movie has been written by Fleabag star Phoebe Waller Bridge. “Lashana is an absolutely brilliant actress and I have tried my best to keep the script sharp and funny,” Bridge was quoted as saying. “This is a Bond for the modern era who will appeal to a younger generation while sticking true to what we all expect in a Bond film. There are spectacular chase fights, Bond is still Bond and learning to deal with the world of #MeToo,” the insider source said to The Mail. Lashana was most recently seen in blockbuster superhero flick Captain Marvel, playing the superhero’s close friends and fellow pilot Maria Rambeau.
