Ashutosh Gowarikar is once again back with a period drama. After the major failure of 2016’s Mohenjo Daro, Gowarikar is yet again making a period film titled as ‘Panipat’. The film is based on the Battle of Panipat that took place between the Marathas and the invading forces from Afghanistan. Finally, its trailer is out. The three-minute-long trailer is filled with sheer grandeur like any other film of Gowarikar. The film stars Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. Arjun will be seen portraying the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau, who was the commander-in-chief of the Maratha army;
Kriti plays the role of Sadashiv Rao’s second wife Parvati Bai;
and Sanjay Dutt as the king of Afghanistan Ahmad Shah Abdali.
There is also a surprise waiting for the audience after a long time, veteran actress Zeenat Aman will be seen in a cameo role in Panipat. Not only Zeenat Aman, Padmini Kolhapure and Mohnish Bahl will also feature in this film. Ashok Chakradhar, Hindi litterateur, poet, and essayist has written the dialogues of this film. Panipat is being produced by Sunita Gowariker’s AGGPL along with Vision World. Ashutosh is known for his grandiosity of his films and Panipat will be no different. Panipat is slated to release on December 6.
