Advocate takes a legal step against filmmakers

Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak has been in the headlines from the time of its announcement. Chhapaak released on Friday 10th January and even before release, the movie landed in hot soup. The movie is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, where Deepika is playing the role of Laxmi. Now, the advocate of Laxmi Agarwal Aparna Bhat, who represented her in court filed a complaint against the makers of the movie. Bhat filed the complaint at a Delhi court seeking an interim injunction. The reason behind her edginess is that the makers didn’t give her due acknowledgment in the film credits. Bhat took to her social media handle to vent her anger through several posts and it is there on social media where Bhat announced that she would take legal action against the filmmakers. On her Facebook post, Bhat wrote,

I have never been the one to demand attention to my work. Deeply disturbed by the turn of events post watching Chhapaak. Compelled to take legal action to protect my identity and preserve my integrity. I represented Lakshmi in her criminal trial in Patiala House Courts... tomorrow someone will represent me in my cause...Ironies of life.”

The court ordered the makers of ‘Chhapaak’ to give Bhat her due credit before the release of the film. Bhat shared another post on her social media where she thanked the people who came out in her support.
